R16

FOUR DOOR SIDEBOARD

R16 thus came into being and was later added to the catalogue. It proved to be an atypical piece of furniture in many respects, yet always remained true to the spirit of Chapo furniture. In 1965, Pierre Chapo responded to a commission and designed R16. To create this large sideboard, he studied the shaping of a piece of furniture nearly three meters long. At a time when this type of furniture tended to become slender, occupying space with lightness, Pierre Chapo produced an atypical piece with golden proportions. Sculptural, the R16 has totemic accents. The sobriety of the door frames and panel tops allows the grain of the wood to express itself. This large storage volume rests on four solid legs that run vertically through the piece and come flush with the top at the front. The visible joinery and the asymmetrical door contribute to the aesthetic of the furniture, which skillfully oscillates between strength and serenity. R16 is the most voluminous piece in the Chapo catalogue.
Three compartments, three adjustable shelves, one independent block of three drawers. This furniture is not removable.
