Nicole Lormier Chapo

1925 - 1997

Nicole Lormier met Pierre Chapo during their studies at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. Pierre, in architecture, and Nicole, in painting and sculpture. This initial training will never stop to be enriched by their meetings and expeditions to the four corners of the world.

She had her first son Nicolas in 1956. In 1957, Pierre and Nicole created the Chapo company, an architectural design office and interior design firm. They open in 1958, at 14 boulevard de l'hôpital 75005, a store where they sell the first Chapo pieces as well as lamps from Isamu Noguchi, Jean-Pierre Mignon, KNOLL.

She had a busy life, punctuated by a mixture of her passions for Japan and her work for the Chapo company.

Nicole's hunger for knowledge and insatiable curiosity have allowed her to develop a certain taste and a sense of harmony in the choice of fabrics and materials used in Chapo's furniture, particularly the leather of the benches and seats.

Fidel Chapo

1967 - 2021

I was born in Paris on September 23, 1967, the year my parents moved to the Vaucluse, in the heart of the Luberon. I grew up in an artistic environment, discovering many skills related to creation, from the wood workshop to the photo lab, through saddlery, modeling and of course drawing. In 1981, I moved to Paris to study at the Beaux-Arts, first in painting at Matais, then in metal sculpture at Perrin. On weekends, I sell and deliver furniture for the Chapo Gallery, located on the Boulevard de l'Hôpital in the 5th arrondissement.

In 1995, with a group of adventurers, I created the bar La Flèche d'Or, on rue de Bagnolet, which remains a Mecca of Parisian life. Until 2000, I worked as a temp then, saturated with Paris, I returned to the South. First, I spent four years in La Seyne-sur-Mer restoring the Merrymaid, a large classic yacht built in 1903.

Then, it is the return to the sources in Luberon, where with the assistance of my partner I start again the manufacture of the furniture Chapo stopped since ten years. "
