The T08 table, part of the so-called “five-centimetre” furniture series, perfectly illustrates Pierre Chapo’s pragmatism in designing a long, narrow table that gives the piece great versatility. The T08 table frees up a significant amount of space around it, allowing for a variety of seating arrangements. The sobriety and geometric balance of the whole are perfectly in line with the rectangular shapes of the legs and the tabletop. By setting the legs fully into the tabletop—so much so that they pass through it—the designer avoids weighing down the table’s overall aesthetic with an apron system, which would have been necessary if the leg tenons had been concealed beneath the top.
