History
In 1979, Pierre Chapo designed the S46 with the principles of “Chlacc” construction. It was the first low chair he designed in over twenty years of creation, bringing a new style to the Chapo living-room seating catalog. The S 46, which applies some of the basic principles seen in the structure of the S 45, would open new construction perspectives thanks to the “Chlacc” system.
The S46 is a remarkable achievement, notably the originality of the seat: the cushions are fixed front and back to two wood crosspieces, with the front crosspiece as if suspended in mid-air. A system of crossbars rests on the base of the back struts, ensuring the seat is totally locked in place when weight is placed on it. The covered back sits between the two structural posts which come together at the back legs to form a three-point assembly. The sections are all fixed together, one after the other, to ensure the seat is reliable.
