History

Pierre Chapo discovered Alsatian architecture, the wood structures of the traditional half- timbered houses, and the tried and tested household furniture. The interior of a home was a vital space in wintertime, and the heart of the house was a large table, where family and friends gathered for meals and winter evenings. Struck by the traditional “Alsatian chair,” Pierre Chapo decided to modernize it. In 1972, he designed the S28 chair, keeping the basic characteristics of the “Alsatian chair” but ridding it of its decorative elements. The back is made of a single piece of wood, the seat in solid flat wood and the four legs point outwards. Each piece of wood was shaped with care and precision. The S28 is a modern chair that maintains the silhouette and comfort of the “Alsatian chair.”
